Membership

The East Providence Republican City Committee is comprised of the membership of each of our four Ward Committees. In order to become a member of the City Committee, one must first become a member of the Ward Committee of legal primary residence. A member of any of our four Ward Committees is automatically considered to be a member of the East Providence Republican City Committee.

Per our bylaws, each of our four Ward Committees may have a maximum of 15 voting members. Ward Committee members are elected in the November of each even-numbered year, with two-year terms commencing in the January of the following year. In the case of vacancy, the Chair of a Ward Committee may appoint additional members, subject to the approval of a majority of the voting members of that Ward Committee. In the case where a Ward Committee has reached its maximum of 15 voting members, any additional persons added to that committee by the Chair are considered to be “ex officio” members, and will have all the rights and privileges of regular members, with the sole exception of a right to vote on contested issues or endorsements.

If you share our common concerns about ever-increasing taxes, out-of-control bureaucratic spending, a crumbling infrastructure, and a political culture that invites corruption – we welcome you to join our growing team! If you are a registered Republican, legally reside in East Providence, and are interested in becoming a member of the East Providence Republican City Committee, please contact the Chair of the Ward in which you reside. If you are uncertain of the Ward that you live in, please e-mail East Providence Republican City Committee Chair Robert Carlin, and he will be happy to assist you further. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much for your interest!
